T-962 Reflow Profile Calculator: Simplify Your Soldering Process
I recently acquired a Puhui T-962 reflow oven, which is budget-friendly but requires several modifications to be functional. I installed the replacement firmware by Unified Engineering and replaced the masking tape with kapton tape.
The firmware allows for two custom profiles, with target temperatures specified at 10-second intervals. However, most solder paste datasheets provide temperatures at different intervals, making it challenging to create a precise profile.
For example, MG Chemical’s 4902P low-temp, lead-free paste datasheet provides temperatures at 25-second intervals. To address this, I created a spreadsheet that performs linear interpolation to generate 10-second intervals.
You can download the spreadsheet here. It uses columns A and B for input and columns E through I for additional interpolated times, which are hidden for clarity.
The spreadsheet is licensed under CC-BY-SA, allowing commercial use as long as the copyright notice is retained. I hope this tool saves you time and effort in creating reflow profiles.
FAQ
1. What is a reflow oven?
A reflow oven is a specialized oven used in electronics manufacturing to heat and solder components onto a printed circuit board (PCB).
2. Why is the Puhui T-962 not fully functional out of the box?
The Puhui T-962 is budget-friendly, so the manufacturer cuts corners in several places, requiring modifications to make it usable.
3. What modifications did you make to the Puhui T-962?
I installed the replacement firmware by Unified Engineering and replaced the masking tape with kapton tape.
4. What is the purpose of the reflow profile calculator?
The reflow profile calculator helps create precise reflow profiles by interpolating temperatures at 10-second intervals based on datasheet information.
5. Can I use the reflow profile calculator commercially?
Yes, the spreadsheet is licensed under CC-BY-SA, allowing commercial use as long as the copyright notice is retained.
